SEEDS SOWN FOR NEW PROCESSING PLANT

1st December 2018

Construction is now underway in Chichester for a new Crop Research, Technology and Multiplication Centre which incorporates a seed processing plant specifically designed and engineered to meet the production requirements and demands of an evolving and growing market.

Bartholomews, who have been producing seed in Chichester since the early 1940s, have taken the decision to build the facility as a replacement for their current operation at a nearby location.

Recognised as one of the leading UK producers of high quality seeds, Bartholomews, established in 1883, have served the agricultural market for more than 130 years and operate as a family owned business through a network and infrastructure, predominantly in the south of England.

As soon as the planning process was complete and approved and the go-ahead given by the client, T H WHITE Projects commenced work as overall project manager, as well as mechanical & electrical contractor. T H WHITE is working closely with the customer and the civil engineering consultants to expedite this business opportunity and development in Chichester.

As illustrated in the photograph, the civil works and building structure are taking shape on site, with the installation of the mechanical plant scheduled to commence early in the new year. This will include a significant installation of conveying and elevating equipment, processing plant, storage bins and packaging machinery, all located within the specially designed building with its numerous operating platforms and floor levels.

The new site is due to come on stream in late 2019 and will incorporate Churchill Freight Services, bird seed processing and agri chemicals, along with all the ancillary administration to enable Bartholomews to continue to offer their high quality multi seed options, product varieties and excellent customer service across the UK market.

T H WHITE Projects specialises in cereal processing & storage solutions of all sizes, from small farm installations to large commercial/industrial bulk facilities, taking each project from conception to completion and beyond, with standards of back-up and maintenance that are so important at busy times.
