PERPETUAL MOTION DURING HARVEST
3rd September 2018
The need to keep the wheels turning in grain stores during this year’s harvest posed an interesting challenge for members of the T H WHITE Projects Farm Service & Installation team.
The hot weather resulted in the harvest being brought in earlier than expected, so those who had planned ahead and arranged for pre-harvest checks in their respective grain stores, together with some scheduled service and maintenance, were ready to receive the combined crops from the fields.
The dust rising from the combines was evident around the region and told of intense activity in the fields. It wasn’t long before the phones were ringing and our fully-equipped service vans were heading out towards the farms to tackle the various problems – whether it be with conveyors, elevators, or this year with the cleaners as the crop was coming in very dry with plenty of dust and chaff to block up the equipment.
The team coped well with the call-outs whether they came during the week or weekends and in the majority of cases we were able to obtain the necessary parts, fit them and promptly get the customers up and running again.
Any of the installations requiring structural steelwork repairs to items such as ladders, stairways or access platforms, was supported from the T H WHITE Projects ‘in-house’ fabrication team based at our Devizes site.
Right through the summer months the engineers were kept busy, working together safely and efficiently to cope admirably with the breakdowns and other operational challenges facing them.
On behalf of T H WHITE Projects and our customers we would like to take this opportunity to thank Kevin Alnwick and his service team for their dedicated efforts during the harvest period.
